It has been a while since my last post. I am just laying here now watching basketball and Madagascar on commercial breaks. This weekend has not exactly turned out as planned. It was supposed to be yardsaling this morning and then spending the day outside basking in the sun, but due to some heavy winds that would have left us running after clothes all morning it was decided the yardsale should be postponed. So, after an hour of putting up signs on Friday it was another 30 minutes taking them down at 5:30 am in windchill weather of 29 degrees. Guess the yardsale will now have to wait. But, I did have a great friend willing to help me organize, price items and put the signs up in 45 mph winds, not to mention climbing hills and risking lives to stick signs in very hard ground. Thanks again!
On other notes, the house hunting is still in progress. I finally told Josh my real feelings about the townhouse. I am just nervous about what might happen with the POAs at the location. But, we did get hope, another place listed on the market yesterday that we are interested in seeing. Keep your fingers crossed that it will be good. It was so nice this last week just taking some time to really think, but still take a break off, the house hunting. I am just scared our apt. will get rented out and then we will be stuck with nowhere to live. And let me tell you, I have been there before and now I have even more stuff and I am not sure what I would do with it all, even for just a few days. You know, when people say, it will only be for a few days, that really gives me no consolation. I think it is actually harder for only a few days then for a long period of time. I guess for now I have to just wait it out.
Oh!!!! So, I forgot something about the yardsale. I am TERRIFIED of mice. I mean I have no fear of snakes, spiders other insects, but let me tell you mice, rats as I like to call them, scare me to death. So, as I am preparing for the yardsale I am going through a box that had been in the storage unit I get towards the bottom and what do I see but to my surprise a MOUSE...RAT!!! It happens to be dead and tiny but really that does not change anything. I froze, unable to move, left just screaming on the chair...finally Josh realizes my fear and quickly takes the box outside. No worries for any of those of you who may want to come to the yardsale, all things effected by the mouse were thrown out as well. But, it was terrifying!!!!
Well the game is getting more intense and I have said enough, looking forward to tomorrow and the supposedly warm weather.

Updates on the previous weekend
So, it has been a while since my last post. Lots of things have been happening. A quick recap...I went to the ACA conference in Charlotte this past weekend. Man that was wonderful. I really enjoy being around the like minded and I was reminded how much I miss school, already. I have only been out for like 3 months. I just enjoy learning. The conference was great, the division I am co-president for won an award at the NCCA luncheon and my poster session went off without a hitch. I am sure glad I worked so hard on it now. All my hardwork will soon be posted on the website (after many requests from conference attendees wanting more information) now I am not one to brag but that sure does make me feel good. Not to mention I got great feedback and acknowledgement from some of the greats in the counseling field about my comments in sessions.
I have decided that I AM going to pursue my ph.d. The question now remains when do I want to start applying and where do I want to go. My life is here, and I am just not ready or wanting to give that up. But, I am lucky, I have a great man who is supporting my decisions and stands behind my future pursuits. Currently top interests for school include UNCG, UNCC, and VTech. All fairly difficult schools to get into, but are fairly close and will give me my life here and a good education. I am thinking two years to wait at the longest and possibly even applying for 2010 school year. I guess for that I will wait and see.
On to other life things...still house hunting. For those of you who own homes...how did you do it. I mean how do you make it through all the searching. This has been such a difficult thing. It wears me out but everyone keeps saying this is how it is, it is normal. My response...if this is normal then normal sucks and who wants to be normal. I want it to be easy. I guess as the saying goes, anything worth getting is worth waiting for. We are, I believe on the tail end, we have narrowed down some options and will be making some difficult decisions. I cant wait till Wednesday, three more to see. The more I consider condos and townhomes, they really seem to make sense, for us, right now anyway. Well, I digress. If you have read this far you are probably worn out and I congratulate you. I guess I had more to say then I realized.

Vicarious Living
So, I spend most of my day watching tv, talking with Josh, working and whatever else happens to pop into my life. But, on most any day I know what I will be doing, where I will be going, who I will see, there are little changes in my day to day activities. Sounds boring sometimes huh? Interestingly enough I actually really enjoy my typical, ordinary most day things. But, I am finding that I am beginning to live vicariously through my friend who has placed a no holds bar (I think that is what it is) on his life. Who has taken the opportunity to live and try new things. I have really NO desire to move around without sure grounding to land on, but it sure is nice to know someone who is willing to give it a try. For me, my biggest adventure to come is this weeks ACA conference. I am really looking forward to that!
Side note....still no call back...guess it is important to begin to love the place I am at.

Busy, busy bee
It has been a few days since the last posting, spotting, I guess you could say. This is because I have been a busy, busy bee. The weekend here was fabulous. Beautiful weather, soft breeze, and warm sun. This allowed for fun cookouts and games in the yard. However, needless to say Freddy only lasted a short time. He was soon gone at the sight of the sun. But, he sure was fun to make and enjoy while he lasted...hopefully his brother won't come until next winter. Yet, I digress...Back to why I am a busy, busy bee.
Schedule today
14 Different appointments, meetings, and places to be...
Wow, I am a busy, busy bee...thank goodness it is after 5!

Friendship
Okay, so I posted all ready and then read Chip's post. So, this one is for him.
Chip,
I can not even begin to imagine the fear and questions you have going on. I mean I can't even leave Boone without stressing out. But, in the last 6 years, can you believe it has been 6 years, that we have known each other, I have seen you grow, mature, and go for your dreams. I am scared for you, hell, I am scared for me and I am not even going anywhere. You can definitely tell I am my mother's daughter. So, I do not have all the answers to your questions, really I probably do not have any of the answers to your questions, and I don't really think you were expecting answers but I do have this..."Wherever you are it is your friends who make your world..." -William James. Although, we will probably never live in the same town again and our friendship will change and take different forms, I am behind you wherever you go and whatever dreams you follow. GOOD LUCK in your transition to New York.
From the girl who never left the small, mountain, college town.

It has kinda been a slow few days here in pleasantown. Yesterday, work was limited due to the massive snow left behind by what is being described as one of the biggest one day snows in our area. Dumping in some cases up to a foot of snow...however, at my house we probably only got 8-10 inches. Freddy is still standing and made through 2 nights. The sun is beating down on him today we will have to see how long he can last. I
Today seems to be dragging by. An appointment this afternoon seems to only linger in the distance. For now, I am located in the basement listening to what sounds like a herd of elephants rushing around upstairs, but what I know to actually be some young girls practicing their clogging. I mean why not...an office seems like the best place to be doing that, right?
I digress on to yet another trivial discussion going on in my head. The weather. So possibility of getting down to -5 and -12 wind chill tonight. Glad I have a cozy home, yet concerned about others who dont. And then I hear that this weekend will be in the mid 60s. Oh, this crazy Boone weather, like they always say: "don't like the weather wait a few minutes". I guess this week it is like only wait a few days...we will go from 0 to 60 in like 4 days.

Freddy, the first timer as opposed to the old timer
This weekend in pleasantown sure was a "pleasant one" mixed with only a few bits of sour along the way. Yesterday was spent enjoying all Ashe and Boone have to offer. A dinner out with friends and good music in addition Saturday proved to be good. The only sour bits coming along only at the dinner conversation which was soon ended and led to the above good music, Corduroy Road (which I now recommend).
Sunday provided what Sunday's should provide. A day with family, good food, and taking time to spend with the one I love doing whatever we choose. It has continued to snow here all day and currently the accumulation is close to 6 inches at least. We built a snowman, Freddy, which I thought should have been named First Timer, but I lost. He is our first snowman built together, out of love, sappy I know. I digress, in addition I tried for that perfect snow angel, but did not succeed. Instead what appeared seemed to look like a body flailing for help. But I did not get discouraged. I decided today was meant for attention to be focused on Freddy, I mean it is the day of his birth. (Sour bits excluded in todays blog, because playing in the snow just made everything that much better.)
Soon, I hope to get Freddy's picture up for you all to see!!!

Wanting and Worring
Okay, so after what feels like 90000000 days searching for a house we still have not found the ONE. I guess I just thought this might be a little easier, but finding the home of your dreams takes time and patience. Which patience, I seem to have little of lately. I do not know what that is about...it seems that lately I want everything as soon as I want it. Sometimes I think about just stepping back, taking a break. I would really like not to worry so much. But, when you are a worrier that is a lot easier said then done.

Fate vs. Responsibility
So, no blogging was done yesterday, but I guess you figured that out when nothing was posted. Yesterday was a long but hopefully great day. I have to wait about two weeks to find out how good it actually was. I know that sounds werid, having to wait later to see how good an old day really was. I guess I can give you some insight into what I am talking about.
It was my hope/chance at a new place, a new future, a new career, and who knows what else (that really is putting a lot of stress on yesterday). Afterwards I am forced to wait until decisions are made by others that I now have no control over. You know, it really sucks having your future in someone else's hands. I guess if I had the belief that everything happens for a reason I could easily put it in that category and move on, but that is a hard idea for me to grasp. I feel like that is sometimes an easy way out. Well, if it is alreay pre-determined what I am going to do, then I can't screw it up. It seems that is much easier than really taking responsibility for my life. But I digress. Instead I just sit aimlessly hoping for the unknown.
On to another facet of my interesting life, Josh and I will be going to look at houses again tomorrow. I am so excited. That is another one of those fate vs responsibility questions again. If the house we are "supposed" to buy is out there then how much work do I really have to do. I mean if it is fate won't it just come into my life. See I think not. I must do some leg work on my end.
On to my final comments for now....I hate being sick. I was sick last week all week and then again today I wake up with a sore throat, cough and cold. I mean really what they heck. I am hoping it goes away soon...in the mean time i will dope myself up with orange juice...GO VITAMIN C!!!

First Day in PleasanTown
So, this is my first blog ever. Seems like I might actually enjoy my new found place. Right now, I am wondering what to write about. I guess each day I will start to pick out the best parts and share them. After all, this is PleasanTown. So, far the best part is starting a blog. The hardest part being coming up with a name. I guess life isn't really so hard today.
