Updates on the previous weekend

So, it has been a while since my last post. Lots of things have been happening. A quick recap...I went to the ACA conference in Charlotte this past weekend. Man that was wonderful. I really enjoy being around the like minded and I was reminded how much I miss school, already. I have only been out for like 3 months. I just enjoy learning. The conference was great, the division I am co-president for won an award at the NCCA luncheon and my poster session went off without a hitch. I am sure glad I worked so hard on it now. All my hardwork will soon be posted on the website (after many requests from conference attendees wanting more information) now I am not one to brag but that sure does make me feel good. Not to mention I got great feedback and acknowledgement from some of the greats in the counseling field about my comments in sessions.

I have decided that I AM going to pursue my ph.d. The question now remains when do I want to start applying and where do I want to go. My life is here, and I am just not ready or wanting to give that up. But, I am lucky, I have a great man who is supporting my decisions and stands behind my future pursuits. Currently top interests for school include UNCG, UNCC, and VTech. All fairly difficult schools to get into, but are fairly close and will give me my life here and a good education. I am thinking two years to wait at the longest and possibly even applying for 2010 school year. I guess for that I will wait and see.

On to other life things...still house hunting. For those of you who own homes...how did you do it. I mean how do you make it through all the searching. This has been such a difficult thing. It wears me out but everyone keeps saying this is how it is, it is normal. My response...if this is normal then normal sucks and who wants to be normal. I want it to be easy. I guess as the saying goes, anything worth getting is worth waiting for. We are, I believe on the tail end, we have narrowed down some options and will be making some difficult decisions. I cant wait till Wednesday, three more to see. The more I consider condos and townhomes, they really seem to make sense, for us, right now anyway. Well, I digress. If you have read this far you are probably worn out and I congratulate you. I guess I had more to say then I realized.

Vicarious Living

So, I spend most of my day watching tv, talking with Josh, working and whatever else happens to pop into my life. But, on most any day I know what I will be doing, where I will be going, who I will see, there are little changes in my day to day activities. Sounds boring sometimes huh? Interestingly enough I actually really enjoy my typical, ordinary most day things. But, I am finding that I am beginning to live vicariously through my friend who has placed a no holds bar (I think that is what it is) on his life. Who has taken the opportunity to live and try new things. I have really NO desire to move around without sure grounding to land on, but it sure is nice to know someone who is willing to give it a try. For me, my biggest adventure to come is this weeks ACA conference. I am really looking forward to that!

Side note....still no call back...guess it is important to begin to love the place I am at.

Busy, busy bee

It has been a few days since the last posting, spotting, I guess you could say. This is because I have been a busy, busy bee. The weekend here was fabulous. Beautiful weather, soft breeze, and warm sun. This allowed for fun cookouts and games in the yard. However, needless to say Freddy only lasted a short time. He was soon gone at the sight of the sun. But, he sure was fun to make and enjoy while he lasted...hopefully his brother won't come until next winter. Yet, I digress...Back to why I am a busy, busy bee.

Schedule today
14 Different appointments, meetings, and places to be...

Wow, I am a busy, busy bee...thank goodness it is after 5!

Friendship

Okay, so I posted all ready and then read Chip's post. So, this one is for him.

Chip,
I can not even begin to imagine the fear and questions you have going on. I mean I can't even leave Boone without stressing out. But, in the last 6 years, can you believe it has been 6 years, that we have known each other, I have seen you grow, mature, and go for your dreams. I am scared for you, hell, I am scared for me and I am not even going anywhere. You can definitely tell I am my mother's daughter. So, I do not have all the answers to your questions, really I probably do not have any of the answers to your questions, and I don't really think you were expecting answers but I do have this..."Wherever you are it is your friends who make your world..." -William James. Although, we will probably never live in the same town again and our friendship will change and take different forms, I am behind you wherever you go and whatever dreams you follow. GOOD LUCK in your transition to New York.

From the girl who never left the small, mountain, college town.
It has kinda been a slow few days here in pleasantown. Yesterday, work was limited due to the massive snow left behind by what is being described as one of the biggest one day snows in our area. Dumping in some cases up to a foot of snow...however, at my house we probably only got 8-10 inches. Freddy is still standing and made through 2 nights. The sun is beating down on him today we will have to see how long he can last. I

Today seems to be dragging by. An appointment this afternoon seems to only linger in the distance. For now, I am located in the basement listening to what sounds like a herd of elephants rushing around upstairs, but what I know to actually be some young girls practicing their clogging. I mean why not...an office seems like the best place to be doing that, right?

I digress on to yet another trivial discussion going on in my head. The weather. So possibility of getting down to -5 and -12 wind chill tonight. Glad I have a cozy home, yet concerned about others who dont. And then I hear that this weekend will be in the mid 60s. Oh, this crazy Boone weather, like they always say: "don't like the weather wait a few minutes". I guess this week it is like only wait a few days...we will go from 0 to 60 in like 4 days.

Freddy, the first timer as opposed to the old timer

This weekend in pleasantown sure was a "pleasant one" mixed with only a few bits of sour along the way. Yesterday was spent enjoying all Ashe and Boone have to offer. A dinner out with friends and good music in addition Saturday proved to be good. The only sour bits coming along only at the dinner conversation which was soon ended and led to the above good music, Corduroy Road (which I now recommend).

Sunday provided what Sunday's should provide. A day with family, good food, and taking time to spend with the one I love doing whatever we choose. It has continued to snow here all day and currently the accumulation is close to 6 inches at least. We built a snowman, Freddy, which I thought should have been named First Timer, but I lost. He is our first snowman built together, out of love, sappy I know. I digress, in addition I tried for that perfect snow angel, but did not succeed. Instead what appeared seemed to look like a body flailing for help. But I did not get discouraged. I decided today was meant for attention to be focused on Freddy, I mean it is the day of his birth. (Sour bits excluded in todays blog, because playing in the snow just made everything that much better.)

Soon, I hope to get Freddy's picture up for you all to see!!!

Wanting and Worring

Okay, so after what feels like 90000000 days searching for a house we still have not found the ONE. I guess I just thought this might be a little easier, but finding the home of your dreams takes time and patience. Which patience, I seem to have little of lately. I do not know what that is about...it seems that lately I want everything as soon as I want it. Sometimes I think about just stepping back, taking a break. I would really like not to worry so much. But, when you are a worrier that is a lot easier said then done.
